UV Short Arc Low Wattage Lamps

UV low wattage short arc lamps, typically below 1000 watts, are used in applications where intense light is needed, but on a smaller scale:

  • Microscopy and Medical Imaging: Low wattage lamps are used in fluorescence microscopy and other imaging techniques. Their bright and focused UV light enables detailed observation of microscopic samples in medical and biological research.
  • Optical Instruments: These lamps are found in various optical instruments, such as spectrophotometers and UV-visible spectrometers, where precise light is needed to measure the properties of substances.
  • UV disinfection: UV low wattage short arc lamps are used in compact UV disinfecting units for small-scale applications, such as disinfecting medical tools, laboratory equipment, and air and water purification in smaller systems.

Ushio’s mercury lamps are designed for the use in the ultraviolet or blue part of the spectrum. The advantage of these radiation sources is that their beam can easily be optically shaped because of their short arc. Mercury short arc lamps are the preferred choice for inspection tools in the semiconductor industry.
