31 Mar 2026
Thorsten Baum Appointed President and CEO of the Ushio Europe Group
Effective April 1, 2026, Thorsten Baum has been appointed President and CEO of the Ushio Europe Group. In the long history of Ushio Europe, he is only the second European to assume this top position. He succeeds William F. Mackenzie, who will focus on his role as General Manager of the Global Business Unit AUCC/Advanced Packaging—one of Ushio’s key strategic priorities.
Thorsten Baum looks back on a 26-year career within the Ushio Group. In various leadership roles, he has played a key role in shaping the establishment, expansion, and strategic positioning of the group in Europe.
As Head of Development and Quality, he was instrumental in driving technological innovation for many years. In 2020, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Ushio Germany, and in 2022, President of the Polish subsidiary UPO. Since 2023, he has also served as Managing Director of Ushio Germany GmbH and Vice President of Manufacturing and Operations.
Thorsten Baum combines in-depth technical expertise with an exceptionally deep understanding of the European organization within the global Ushio Group. At the same time, he maintains close ties with the corporate headquarters in Japan, giving him the ideal qualifications to successfully shape the future development of the Ushio Europe Group.
In his new role, he is shaping the strategic development of the Ushio Europe Group in a dynamic and highly competitive market environment. In addition, he is a member of the Executive Board of Ushio Industries & Entertainment (Ushio INE) and, in this capacity, is contributing to the integration of the entertainment and industrial divisions of ams OSRAM into the corporate group, which Ushio Inc. recently acquired.
With the appointment of Thorsten Baum, Ushio Europe is focusing on continuity, technological expertise, and international networking to further develop the group in a sustainable and forward-looking manner.
