Disinfection & AOP

Disinfection and Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP) using UV lamps have become pivotal in ensuring the safety and cleanliness of various environments and resources. UV disinfection leverages ultraviolet light to inactivate microorganisms by damaging their DNA, preventing replication. This technology finds extensive applications in ballast water treatment, surface disinfection, air and water disinfection.

UV lamps are effectively used in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) systems to purify indoor air. UV-C light, specifically within the 200-280 nm range, is capable of deactivating airborne pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, and mold spores. Integrating UVC lamps into air handling units ensures continuous air sanitation, reducing the spread of airborne diseases and improving indoor air quality in hospitals, offices, public spaces and food processing factories.

UV lamps are increasingly employed to disinfect surfaces in healthcare facilities, laboratories, and food processing plants. UV-C light can rapidly eliminate pathogens on surfaces without the use of chemicals, reducing the risk of hospital-acquired infections and ensuring a sterile environment. The technology also ensures safe environment in the food processing industry. Portable UV devices can be used for on-the-spot disinfection of high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, escalator handrails, counters, and medical instruments.

UV disinfection is a well-established method for treating drinking water, wastewater, and industrial process water. UV lamps provide a reliable barrier against pathogens like Cryptosporidium and Giardia, which are resistant to chlorine. Additionally, AOP, which combines UV with oxidizing agents like hydrogen peroxide, further enhances the degradation of organic pollutants and trace contaminants, ensuring safe and clean water.

Ships often use ballast water to maintain stability, which, if discharged untreated, can introduce invasive species to new environments. UV based disinfection breaks down the cellular structures of microorganisms. This method is efficient in meeting international maritime regulations for ballast water management, ensuring ecological protection.

Overall, UV disinfection and AOP with UV lamps offer robust, chemical-free solutions for maintaining hygiene and safety across various applications, protecting human health and the environment.
